About This Tutorial
This tutorial brings together leading researchers at the intersection of computer vision, natural language processing, and cultural heritage to explore computational approaches to understanding art and culture. From multimodal representations of fine art to instance-level recognition in museum collections, from computational calligraphy to knowledge-grounded artwork explanation, the tutorial covers the full spectrum of techniques and challenges in applying AI to the cultural domain.
The tutorial is held at ACM ICMR 2026, taking place on June 16, 2026 at the KIT Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam. It consists of eight talks organised into four thematic blocks, with coffee breaks, lunch, and a closing discussion.
